Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Just last week I was revisiting my broken resolutions for 2012 while finally taking down the last Christmas decorations and now I’m looking February in the face. Oh well, if your children are anything like mine, you are being forced to move into February with a creative mind and genuine smile. If you tried to ignore the upcoming holiday– too bad! All the stores have items out, which means the kids are already thinking about special treats to take to school and who should get “special” cards.
As a mom, the needs and wants of your children often force YOU to the rear. You’ll stay up late doing what needs to be done to ensure your kid is a hit amongst his/her friends. But what are you doing to create some fireworks for you and your honey this February 14th? It’s so easy to watch the flames dwindle; but even if you “don’t celebrate Hallmark Holidays”, wouldn’t you agree that your love and relationship are worth celebrating?
Over the years I am sure you’ve acquired a drawer or two full of lingerie from your man. Why not surprise him this year with a boudoir session? ”What the heck is that” you ask? Boudoir is derived from the French word bouder, which means “to pout.” Throughout history it has been the name for various rooms (or parts of rooms) used specifically by women. Boudoir is now usually used in relation to the bedroom.
On a different note, boudoir photography is a genre of photography that involves female subjects in seductive, sensual poses. Never tasteless or raunchy, true boudoir photography emphasizes the aesthetic qualities of the subject (YOU!) and the craftsmanship of the photographic process in order to stimulate feelings of admiration from the recipient of the image.
Now that you’re thinking about it, are you wondering where to have your photo shoot? An ideal environment is an elegantly decorated bedroom or naturally beautiful outdoor space. Boudoir photography is the perfect gift for your lover or spouse, so when considering locations, it’s actually quite practical to keep your actual bedroom or common place in mind.
Who should take the pictures? A professional photographer of course! A professional knows just how to put you at ease and make you feel comfortable so that your true personality shines through during your session. Professional photographers also know exactly how to position their subjects to accentuate their best assets and conceal or disguise any areas you’re not so ready to have captured on film. Lastly, lighting and digital retouching are essential to any photo session, but they’re absolutely necessary for boudoir photography sessions!
I boudoir! Do you?
