It has been said that aerating your wine increases the intensity and flavor. And if you are into that, then yes you should aerate. Or you can just unscrew the top and drink :-).
Why Should I Aerate My Wine?
But why aerate anyway? Well, exposing wine to air does two things: it triggers oxidation and evaporation. Oxidation is what makes an apple turn brown after its skin is broken, and evaporation is the process of liquid turning into vapor. Wine is made up of hundreds of compounds, and with aeration, usually the volatile undesirable compounds will evaporate faster than the desirable, aromatic and flavorful ones. (Thanks Dr. Vinny)
Aerating wine improves flavor, softens tannins, and reduces sulfites. The difference is all in the taste. But who wants to wait? I know I don’t! The HOST Adjustable Aerator can give you EXACTLY what you need or want your wine to be, instantly.
How Does it Work?
Where decanting used to take up to six hours, you can now have that same effect instantaneously. The Host Adjustable Aerator mimicks hours of decanting by *filtering* the wine through air. How marvelous is that?!?!?!?! With seven settings, from 0 to 6, you can have whatever level of aeration you choose, one glass at a time. This is a GENIUS tool that will make even the novice wine drinker an instant connoisseur.
I LOVE my adjustable aerator and so will you!!! Now, grab a bottle of Pinot Grigio, and come on over so we can aerate together!
Watch the video below to see exactly how it works!
