Can you believe that it is the end of September already? I can’t. I marvel at just how fast 2013 has flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was getting ready to celebrate spring birthdays. Now here I am thinking about Halloween costumes, and already hiding things away for Christmas. Wow!
My kids are all about Halloween. Most kids are I guess. Each year around now when they get an inkling that October is almost here they start talking about what they are going to wear for Halloween and how we are going to celebrate. Will there be a party? Will we go trick or treating? There are endless questions! The Chicago Halloween Guide website will list great ideas for things to do around the city.
Having 4 kids it is always fun to find costumes that allow them to be a team, or a theme together. I’m not sure that they will go for that this year. They are all very opinionated. However, I started thinking and wondering what costumes might be hot this year. Not surprisingly, my mind took me to a few favorites plus some modern ones. Sites like MrCostumes.com make it easy to browse and imagine.
Superman: Superheroes are always popular. And even though he has been around for years Superman keeps getting resurrected in movies, TV, and for Halloween. The original movies were just on cable a few days ago. Kids definitively know who he is, and they want to be him.
Batman/The Dark Knight: The same goes for Batman. He has been around for a while. However, with the “new Batman” aka the Dark Knight, this is not your father’s Batman. He is dark, fierce, and sometimes scary. This makes him perfect for Halloween.
Disney Princesses: Pick a princess, any princess. Little girls love to be princesses… especially Disney princesses. They can choose from Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, and the rest of the bunch. This is great for those that don’t like scary!
Monster High: Parents may not like them much, but our girls sure seem to. But you have to admit these characters are perfect for Halloween.
Vampires, Witches, and the like: You can never go wrong with the old standby costumes. They come back year after year to scare the pants off of everyone.
Are you already thinking about Halloween? What is your plan for this year?
